Was I OTT???

I'm a parent of a Y3 girl and go with her class when they go swimming. I help the girls in the changing room to get ready/put swim hats etc on, and put their stuff in a locker then help them get ready - or chivvy them along -afterwards.

One girl today was dawdling and being really silly so we - me and the 2 other parent helpers - had asked her about 8 times to get a move on. The bus might go without us if we're late ;-)

Anyway, then she said to me 'You're really red' (it's boiling on the poolside) and I said back to her 'And you're rude!' but then I thought, was i OTT? I should prob have laughed it off but she was being a PITA and really cheeky. So, if it was your dd, would you be cross??!

na, aww,
i dont spose she would admit what she said to her parents. did you laugh afterwards?

KadyPip · 07/03/2012 18:21

Seems fairly restrained to me.

If I was her parent I'd be pretty embarassed at her behaviour.

from my sofa reading it it has made me smile,
but when you are hot,and the child is not listening its frustrating,i probably wouldve felt the same,
where you OTT? depends if she said it in a cheeky tone or not i suppose..
if she was cheeky,then no,
if my ds said that?hmm depends on my mood,
im not doing very good here am i!!

Thanks ladies :)

I felt guilty afterwards!! Tho God knows why, as if my dd had behaved like that I'd want her told off!!

Doesn't sound a big deal to me, especially if her comment about you was to deflect from the fact that you were trying to get her to hurry up.

I don't know...the girl was maybe just making an observation. Tactless and unthoughtful it was..but, maybe she was perplexed as to why you might have been very 'red' - if this was the case, I would have to say that you were OTT, sorry.

If it had been my daughter and you hadn't said it I definitely would have!

PiedWagtail · 07/03/2012 21:06

It was more the way she said it rather than what she said, I think... Thanks all. Will wear my patient head next time for swimming Hmm

If she said it in a "negative way", then you were right!!
