My ds1 is doing well blah de blah de blah, usual stuff, then the teacher said "he is doing very well with his maths lately, will just casually give answers that the brightest kids in the group fail to give". I mean ouch, really, I was a bit Hmm and a bit .

Any crackers you have?

Last parents' evening. 'Ds does incredibly well in tests. Maybe he's just one of those children who does well in tests.' Or maybe he pays more attention or is brighter than you give him credit for.

Parents' evening this week. Not looking forward to it as I bit my tongue last time. Not sure I'll manage that again and this teacher has form for telling the whole class what parents have told her in confidence about their dcs.

We went in to discuss our dd's ed psych report with the head and dd's teacher, on showing us a maths sats paper we were told dd had got a 2c (bear in mind this is only a couple of months into y1 and maths is a weaker area for dd compared to literacy)
The head then said 'well to be fair she only needed to answer 7 questions correctly' Hmm
