Reception / Year 1

We are living overseas so I am interested (in case we return) to understand what my DD would be doing if we had stayed in the UK. She would be in reception.

Are the kids reading yet? Not a focus here. Also what level maths if any do they do? She can do basic adding and subtracting. I would be interested to know what a typical level is at the end of Yr 1 so we have something to work towards.

Thanks for your responses.

Hi,
You may find this helpful. This is what they are working towards until the end of reception - ie the year in which they turn 5. As far as I understand the points, gaining around 6 or 7 out of the 9 in each learning area is around average. Gaining all 9 is working above average.
I'm not sure if there is something similar for the end of yr 1 as that is halfway through Key Stage 1. If you look up KS1 Sats, that will show you the kind of thing they are expected to do by the end of Yr2 (ie when they are 6-7 years old).
