level 6 papers

DS's teacher will be entering DS for level 6 in year 6 this year in maths. She has said that it is the first year that it is being done on a national level since 1998 so there are not any past papers (maybe a specimen paper). She is doing what she can and is a fantastic teacher but there are 25+ others in the class and has suggested we also do a little work with him.
I have seen on other threads lots of discussion about the rights and wrongs of the optional level 6 but the fact is he has been entered and I do not want him looking at the paper, not being familiar with the style of question and getting upset about something he could otherwise find fairly straightforward.
He does like a challenge and also feels that if his teacher has asked him to do something he likes to be well prepared.
Does anyone know of any resources (books, websites etc) we could use.

Lots of discussion in G&T about this recently, have a look there.

Al the bookshops have L3-6 books in the KS3 section.

You can find ks3 level 5-8 revision books easily.(I personally didn't find any good however.)
Letts success do workbook level 5-6(9 level 5 papers, 9 level 6 papers), 6-7(9 level 6 papers, 9 level 7 papers). It was useful for us.

Like IndigoBell said. Level 5 is just the highest testing level for KS2- look at KS3 material.

Level 6 is the average ability for children in Year 9 (13/14), so you could try looking at old KS3 SATS papers online.

I'm not sure if a level 6 KS2 paper will be the same content as a level 6 KS3 paper, but the levels are supposed to be comparable, so in theory they should be.

juniper904 I always though level 5 was the expected level by the end of year 9?
