Hi,
Does anyone have any recent experience of Archdeacon Cambridge in Twickenham? I have been slightly put off by the out of date information on their website already although haven't visited yet. It is our nearest school but I am worried about chances of getting in. We are non-church goers although happy for children to go to faith school but won't get priority. We are about 600 metres away from the front gates ( but nearer to back of school!). We will be applying for 2013 entry

I know being a church goer is an absolute must! My neighbour Has to attend twice a month and sign a book to say she attends! I would suggest you take a tour around the school, no written info tells a story like a visit. The head or deputy organise the tours and are very informative. Like all schools, there is good and bad, but, on the whole, it's a good school..if you get a place!

Thanks for reply ChickMum but oh dear that doesn't sound good at all. Do they live near the school? We are supposed to exchange on house next week but thinking of pulling out if it looks unlikely we'll get into a school nearby :-/

Nope! church going not essential. places are allocated something like 60% church and 40% ordinary families nearest schools, cant remeber exact figures but if u live close, nearby then you'd get a place. hth

I still say, church goers will get priority. Don't forget, twocotbeds, this school is practically oversubscribed, so it really is'nt a case of saying 'ordinary families nearest the school' will get a place. Attending church and completing the application form with the vicar tells you that!

Hi there,

your best bet is to ring the council and find out how many places give were to siblings, then how many to church and how many allocated on distance. Also find out the cut off distance for this year. A child in my son's school has just got a place in Reception (2 1/2 terms in to his first year of school).
