Book recommendations for 7yo, advanced reader??

My 7.5 yo DS is a voracious reader and his reading age is 11.5. He reads through a decent length book in a few days, and I am running out of ideas of things for him to read. He has recently been reading through the Roman Mysteries, but I am getting a little uncomfy with the subject matter (kissing and girlfriends/boyfriends)....

What sort of books are complicated enough for him, but also not too 'old' in subject matter?

Thanks in advance xx

Michael Morpurgo are great. David Walliams books are funny and appeal to boys. Puffin children classics are great too - Treasure Island etc...

Thanks so much, all. Plenty of ideas here x

He has read quite a few already. He did like Diary of A Wimpy kid, so I can recommend those to others in a similar position.

I have read all the HP books as an adult, and it's my parenting decision not to let him read them yet....

I know his comprehension is good too (assessed during dyslexia assessent to be age 12 - amazingly he has real problems with writing and spelling, depite being a great reader), so I know he understands everything he reads. I just want to keep him away from 'grown up' stuff for a while yet....
