Private education interviews

What questions should we expect to be asked when interviewing for a private pre-prep school? Has anyone been for an interview either at Saint Dunstans or Colfes School in South East London? if so, we would appreciate any feedback re the interview process.
Many Thanks

We haven't interviewed at either of those schools, but have had some experience with pre-prep interviews in general. They're really not interested in the "right" answer to a question. It's more an evaluation of whether your child can separate well from you and is comfortable talking to another adult. There's usually a lot of play and watching to see interactions with other children. The best prep you can do is talk to your child often and listen in return and get them comfortable with being around other children and adults.

Thanks for info, we had a rough idea re observation of our child playing, interacting etc but were wondering if the parents are asked particular questions to do with income, how much we earn and what type of jobs we have. Is that sort of thing taken into account when the school is selecting applicants?

I would be surprised if they asked you how much money you earned. They will be interested in what your careers are but from my experience they are more interested that you are sensible parents who tow the line, not the sort of people that are going to bring a child in that has separation anxieties and only eats plain pasta ;)

no lou-lou - they are looking for children who are able to engage and not too disruptive. they are not necessarily looking for early readers but may ask the child to pick out some of the letters in its name. Colfe's and St Dunstans not highly selective schools. Will not ask about your 'middle class credentials' Wink but will want to know you can pay the fees!
