Hi All
Moving to cardiff next month and trying to get a school for my 5 year old. Having a nightmare with the council who says that all schools are at capacity- arrgghh - apart from one. Anything else we have to appeal. Need a primary in north cardiff- can anyone help/ recommend? Also does anyone know about Coed Glas Primary ( the only one with spaces). Also looking for a house to rent that needs to be close to the school and the seems I can't do one without the other- help ??!!??

Cardiff schools are so busy, don't know about this particular 1

Milly22 · 06/02/2012 20:12

Don't bother! Certainly not one of Cardiff's best schools in a not so nice area, bit rough!!

Do you have to actually live in Cardiff? There are some nice places just outside which are easy to commute in.

Milly22 - really ? Thanks for the advice - I was wondering why this is the only school with places left !!

Try Ysgol Mynydd Bychan, fab school and great bunch of parents, did very well in their inspections last year.

I'll recommend Michael Jones Estate Agents, could time to look as lettings are being advertised this year, he's the most popular and closest to Ysgol Mynydd Bychan too, very helpful family run business.

I'll recommend Michael Jones Estate Agents, good time to look as lettings are being advertised this time of the year ready for the new lot of students, he's the most popular and closest to Ysgol Mynydd Bychan too, very helpful family run business.

hi.

i dont know who milly is but i think shes wrong.

Ive worked in coed glas as a teaching assistant in various years over the past 2 years as well as 24 other primary schools in cardiff and coed glas is one of my favourites.

the heads a bit scary at times but the teachers are nice and good at what they do, they have plenty of room and the building is clean and bright. They have help for those who need it ranging from one-one to reading sessions.
The children are generally lovely and compared to some schools- polite and willing to work which is a breath of fresh air.

id take the school- the area isnt bad either.

good luck

Are you looking at Reception or year 1? I'd get back on to the council because it sounds odd to me to find all schools at capacity except one. I know several reception classes that are nowhere near capacity. And have you considered somewhere like Penarth? Again, reception classes definitely not full there. I can't speak for year 1 though.

I am also worried about this school, I have just been told that its the only one with spaces, I know the area and am aware that the children can be a bit 'tougher' than most, but I don't see I have much choice. Any one have any feedback on the nursery please.
