Maths help year 5 please

DD is completely blank on this and I have forgotten. Any help greatly appreciated.

a=3. b=4. c=5 d=6. e=7

ab =. Is this a+b or a x b ?

2bc=. Is this 2 x a x b or 2x (a+b) ?

Feeling a bit thick!!!
