Days Lane Primary School

Hello,

We are new in the area and our house is in the catchment area of Days Lane in Sidcup. They have a "good" ofsted report. Can anyone tell if Days Lane is considered as a good school in the area? Thanks.

Yes it is a good school and has a good local reputation.
It's on the edge of more popular Sidcup than Bexleyheath/Blackfen.
The next nearest school Sherwood park is currently out of favour by a long way.
There is a great catholic school nearby too Our Lady of Rosary I think.

Just make sure you are well within the catchment area as birthrate around here has rocketed lately. This year it was 0.743 miles and Bexley measure on public highway not as crow flies. So you need to measure along the roads. Sherwood park was 6 miles which goes to show how unpopular it is right now

Hi there, thanks for your answer. We are about 0.5 miles driving from the school so hopefully we will still be ok by the time our DS goes to school (he is only two at the moment). I've seen an another school, Birkbeck near the train station, which seems to have a good ofsted report. It is much far away. How is their reputation and what is the catchment area like? In general, which schools should we avoid? Thanks!

This should help! This was lurking in my emails!
Sidcup catchments this year for most of the schools
sorry, it won't paste as a table. So each school has 4 numbers under it in order those numbers are

All Sidcup schools are good.
Not sure why Sherwood is so out of favour, head is pretty old now, but otherwise I don't think they actually perform too bad. I don't know anyone there. DH went there years ago and he turned out alright! Head was his deputy I think.
Chatsworth is a great school if you're on that side of town but Burnt Oak ( its partnered Junior) is less thought of, however the head of Chatsworth has been put in charge of both I think.
Royal Park takes a lot of disabled children in the borough and is actually very popular in this category. It is in a less favoured housing estate but I know parents who are very happy there!

Birkbeck equals no chance! Not sure why it's so popular, it's no better than any other sidcup school particularly.
Don't forget Sidcup and Bexley make up the wealthy part of the borough so houses are more expensive so parents are more likely to be middle classes and interested in their children's education.
Bearing that mind, make sure you look at the schools when time is right and put your fave school on top of your list.
Then make sure you put two definite nearby schools somewhere on your list!
I put my nearest. Didn't fancy 30 min walk when it rains!

Thanks for all of the information! Very helpful. I still have some time but always good to look at it before!
