What a strange chart it misses out the middle chunk of book bands Hmm
(gold, white & lime)

AdditionMultiplication · 26/01/2012 21:18

Doesn't brown replace g/w/l?

MigratingCoconuts · 26/01/2012 21:20

I just downloaded it from the ORT website.. Confused

mrz · 26/01/2012 21:22

no brown follows lime

TheBolter · 26/01/2012 21:24

IMO this is a better chart

powderfreak · 26/01/2012 21:34

Thanks for help. Cant see brown on the chart or am I just being dim/ colour blind :0

brown in book banding comes after lime and on the reading chest is the multi coloured square. It isn't the same as ORT brown level which is purple on the book banding system ... just to confuse everyone.

TheBolter · 26/01/2012 21:38

Oh, it isn't for some reason Your school must be following a newer version of it! I'd use the first chart if i were you.

QED · 26/01/2012 21:39

I thought brown band was a KS2 band ie ORT stages 9-11 ish. I'm sure DS had some books last year that were KS2 brown and also KS1 white or something like that.

mrz · 26/01/2012 21:40

Yes brown is KS2 in the book banding system but brown ORT books aren't brown book band Hmm

snowmaiden · 26/01/2012 21:51

Can anyone link the colour bands to NC reading levels, isn't purple about a level 2b?

snowmaiden · 26/01/2012 21:58

I am just not convinced that the ORT chart is correct, my dd who is also in y2 has just finished ORT stage 10 and is now reading Alpha kids stage 22 and from what I understand she is reading at gold/white level approx.

I would say your dd is reading at the expected level for her age.

MigratingCoconuts · 27/01/2012 18:04

thank you for that link mrz. That's very interesting.

Runoutofideas · 27/01/2012 18:22

My dd1 (yr2) has just finished brown book band which followed lime. I think some of them said NC 3 on the back which I assumed was level 3 on the national curriculum. May be wrong though?
