Primary Schools in Hampton

Hello all, I am new to mumsnet but was most interested in hearing from any mothers in the Hampton area. There are a number of new free schools being proposed in the area to counteract the lack of child places. It's funny, I was not really thinking about not being able to get an automatic school place where we live, but it seems there is a demand. Two schools have been proposed for the Oldfield School site in Hampton. One is for a small Church of England school and the other is for a Maharishi School. I don't know anything about the Maharishi school, so I wondered if any mothers had experience of this type of school? We have until the end of February to submit our intentions of demand so was really keen to know if there were any other families in Hampton facing the same plight of lack of primary school places. There is an open session at Oldfield School on Saturday 4th February which I think I will go too to find out more. Would be great to hear from other parents in Hampton.

There's a thread on the local forum about new schools in Richmond.

It is about secondary schools mainly but there are posts about the ethos of the Marharishi school, including comments from the person leading the bid so you may find it useful. It's a very long thread though!
