Anyone know how English compositions are marked?

I am talking about 8+ here.
What is considered - language, ideas, imagination, spelling...? Do you lose marks if you only write one paragraph (after much telling/nagging/reminding that you write several, and not one long one...).

Writing compositions would be looked at under the following headings
abiliity to
vary sentences for clarity, purpose and effect
write with technical accuracy of syntax and punctuation in phrases, clauses and sentences
organise and present whole texts effectively, sequencing and structuring information, ideas and events
construct paragraphs and use cohesion within and between paragraphs
write imaginative, interesting and thoughtful texts
produce texts which are appropriate to task, reader and purpose
select appropriate and effective vocabulary
use correct spelling
with an element of handwriting and presentation considered too!
