I teach Year Four and have been looking for things like this for a whole so thank you for the link.

I make my class say them by rote rather than skip counting because that helps cement them in their brain as answers to questions rather than just numbers iyswim so get them to say "One two is two, two twos are four, three twos are six" rather than just say "Two, four, six, eight". I make them recite them marching round the classroom, standing up then sitting down, one answer as they go up every stair, I make the boys say the questions and the girls say the answers and vice versa, anything to make it more than just saying them over and over again. I also have a little race track where each child's car moves one space further as they learn each new table. Rewards are great and really motivates them to learn.

I hope any of those ideas can help and good luck!

Mrs - I followed a previous suggestion of yours for Percy Parker - many thanks! Great programme, much enjoyed by my year 1 and year 4 boy (who shouldn't be taking it over, but loves it). Only downside is that I have a little voice in my head singing "Say Percy Parker quickly, Percy Parker, Percy Parker, Percy Parker, Percy Parker,Percy Parker etc etc) Smile

Another vote for Percy Parker.

My eldest was the first in the class to know all his times tables up to 12 x 12 hopefully because of dear old Percy and his tunes because we had it on in the car on the way to/from school each day. The youngest even picked some up too !

It was much easier on the adult ear than some of the irritatingly twee tapes we had been given by friends with older children. God how they must have suffered to get their kids fluent in times tables.
