getting way ahead of myself here - secondary school applications!

Just applying for primary schools at the moment, and the one DH and I like the best is in a neighbouring LA (we are on the border). We understand that there is very little hope of getting allocated a place here, but if for some reason NOBODY applied this year and we got a place there (!) would we be able to apply within our own LA again at the secondary school stage - particularly if DC was showing any 11+ potential? Or would going to primary school in a non grammar LA bar any such applications?

i know i am worrying needlessly over something unlikely ever to happen but just wanted to be sure.

thanks

Secondary school applications are independent of primary school applications.

Only thing is if you are in a grammar school area the local schools will sit the 11+ during school time, and other kids have to sit it on a Saturday (I think :) )

But no state school should prepare him for the 11+

Some secondary schools have feeder primary schools as part of their admissions criteria though........

thank you, i will look into the primary feeder admissions. i already knew that schools didnt provide prep for the 11+, but as i say, am not sure he is even that way inclined - he hasnt been identified as grammar material so im not sure it will even be an issue!

You have to apply for secondary school to the LA in which you live at the time. You can then put down any secondary school you want in either the LA that you live in or the LA where you might be going to primary school in.
