Good luck. Dd is in yr 1 and she had a trial day at another school today. No idea when we will hear if she has a place. Hope we both hear soon.

stikmatix · 15/01/2012 21:44

Wahwah - no you're not alone, we're waiting on DD3's assessment for 3+.

Beryl - we are in similar areas - where did you apply for your DD in the end?

Good luck to all!

Only applied for St H, it's 6+ so not a proper entry point. Am hoping someone might leave and free up a place! You have a daughter there I think?

stikmatix · 19/01/2012 20:44

Beryl - yes, we have 2 DDs there DD1 in Yr 5 and DD2 Reception. Waiting on result of DD3's 3+, so fingers crossed. Didn't apply anywhere else for her. Glad you decided to go for it, I really hope that I will get to meet you there, good luck! BTW I'm sure they wouldn't have run a 6+ if there wasn't a space in the year group, there are always girls entering at "non-standard" entry points, even mid-year. My own DD1 entered after a term had started (we relocated from abroad) for example. They were also very honest and told me that there was no space in Nursery for DD2 to enter then, so I had to do 4+ with her.

2stressed - good luck, when are they mailing out the results letter for you?

BerylOfLaughs · 20/01/2012 18:43

Thanks, I hope to meet you! No idea when I will get results, they haven't given any info at all. Have you been told when you will get results for your youngest? I'm sure she'll get in with 2 big sisters there.

thaliablogs · 20/01/2012 20:38

yes waiting to hear re ken prep. Not sure what she'll do if we get a place, actually, it's a lovely school but a terrible journey for us!

DRMSA · 21/01/2012 14:09

Hi 2stressed,

I would be grateful if you could tell me a littel more about the assessment at Habs. We are hoping to try our son at the school.

Thank you

stikmatix · 21/01/2012 21:24

Beryl - letters are to be posted on 1 Feb, and they always post first class, so assuming no Royal Mail cock ups, we will know on 2 Feb. I reckon it'l be the same for you...

BerylOfLaughs · 22/01/2012 19:52

Thanks Stikmatix, good to have a date!

BerylOfLaughs · 02/02/2012 16:14

Stikmatix - did you hear today about your 4+ application?
Dd will be starting StH in Sept!

stikmatix · 02/02/2012 17:49

Beryl - we withdrew, hopefully something coming up that will take us in a totally different life direction, so fingers crossed it pans out.

Congrats for your DD that is great news, she will be happy there!

BerylOfLaughs · 02/02/2012 18:22

Sorry to hear that but hope the new direction works out well for you.

RandyStraussKhan · 02/02/2012 19:17

Well, firstly my thanks to many on this board, particularly Horsemadmum, Judy1234 and all those who unselfishly provide information to others. Secondly, I think it's a wonderfully thing that people come together on this website (education section) to seek better ways for their children and effectively for the future of our country.

Finally,we're thrilled to have succeeded in our competition for a 7+ place at nlcs, shhs and clgs. We flew blindly initially but we were significantly guided by this site as there were more views here than what we could have obtained from friends and family.

For future candidates, particularly those not in the prep sector, this is a wonderful experience you must enjoy and can obtain simply by using Schofield and Sims together with Bond books from the end of your first term of Y1 until the exams. We also used a spelling list from Bellenden Primary School found on the internet for a weekly spelling round. Overall, the experience has been a wonderful one and we are now confronted with choosing between two very good schools this weekend. Any help on the choice between shhs and nlcs will be appreciated....couldn't resist saying that the headmistress at the former is worth millions of gold...thanks all

RandyStraussKhan · 02/02/2012 19:22

Forgot to add...mrz you're a special human being....thanks for all your advice and links that you provide...

patienceneeded · 02/02/2012 20:11

Congrats to you DD RandyStraussKhan, what a lovely post. Wish your daughter a fabulous and happy education. I would ask your DD what school she would like to go to and also trust your instincts.

BerylOfLaughs · 02/02/2012 23:26

Congrats Randy!

horsemadmom · 02/02/2012 23:35

Congrats! My advice is NLCS all the way.
