Private tutioning

Hello

I have a child who is in year 4 in primary school. I was thinking of joining him in private tution for literacy and numeracy, does any one know of any tution centres etc in the Birmingham area?

Do you think there is a need to give my child private tution at such an early age as he is doing ok in school?

All comments and advise would be highly appreciated

Thanks :)

I don't know, but I want to help with the word, as if you are going to approach people about this, you should get it right.

You get TUITION
from a TUTOR
Your child receives TUTORING.

This is meant to help, not insult!

OP, you are asking a kind of 'how long is a piece of string' question when you ask if your child needs private tuition. We do not know your child. What would you be hoping to achieve from this tuition?

People I know that have hired tutors at this sort of age have done so because

  • they want their children to sit 11+ to grammar school or selective private school (though they might not start till Y5)
  • their child has particular weaknesses in maths or English they wish to target and they feel they need additional support beyond that provided at school/by themselves

Are you worried about a particular area? Sorry don't know much about private tuition

Sorry to hijack thread, but what is a grammar school? And what is the 11+ and what are academies???? As in primary schools becoming academies?

Thank you
