is it me or has it completely changed since I was at school

my yr 5 has come home talking about BODMAS and pythagoras -I'm sure I didn't do this until high school??

don't they do things like measuring the area of the playground with a trundle wheel anymore?

Maths for Mums and Dads is superb!

BODMAS I distinctly remember from year 4. Pythagoras in year 5 - vivid memories of being in particular class rooms.

Glad that it's not just me. Reception dd came home talking about triangular prisms just before Christmas.

I can't remember what BODMAS is though?

Sounds to me that she might be working at a higher level than other year 5's or they are just having fun exploring different aspects of Maths - I would only do this with very able year 5 children - it might be a very able cohort.
