am just getting around to this, but we have to confirm that we pay council tax to our LA (we dont as its in my parents name - their house). though we do live here and other bills etc are in our name\address, as is CB. can we still apply online, or should we just use the paper form (which strangely doesnt ask WHERE you pay your tax!). has anyone come across this before?

Give admissions a ring and ask.

Shelley,
This is one of those areas where you are best talking to the admissions office and getting their advice in writing. With the house not being in your name, if the LA do any checking it is going to come up as a "red flag" that it is in your parent's name. Because of past incidents of people using parent's houses to get entry into preferred schools, they are going to be immediately on their guard, so i think you need to be completely honest and ask for help, explaining the situation. That way you will hopefully not have any issues later on.

ok thanks, i will ring next week. its just odd they seem to ask online but not on paper. and we are in a terrible area schools wise so being with parents not going to help with getting in to a good school! thanks again

just a thought - why would you not have council tax in your names if you have the other bills? Im sure you are being honest but coming from an area with a lot of fraudulent applications i would be very suspicious of another parent who was saying what you are saying - do your parents not live there?

Its best to be up front like admissions says because if you get in an oversubscribed school other parents (like me Wink) may jump to conclusions and report you - even if wrongly.

YY other bills - our credit cards, bank statements. not really utilities etc. i will give admissions a ring this week to see what they advise. i wish we could afford our own property but we just cant.
