DS struggles with maths at school, but will happily play with iphone. Can anyone recommend an app that will help him with adding up/number bonds etc? TIA!

haven't clue, why not get him a book you can work on together

I have tried to get a workbook from WHS but DS really considers it to be work and isn't keen to sit down and do it. We have never had any tech like this before, the iphone is new and DS has taken a fancy to it - thought it would be worth a go.

Try monkey math - might be a little easy but would help build confidence?

will take a look, thanks!

Hi whatstheetiquette, we've got math bingo, which DS age 5 loves, you choose from 4 games; multiplication, addition, division and subtraction and for every game you complete you win a bug. It's great fun and at 69p was a bargain for how much it's turned maths into fun for our DS. ssd that wasn't a very helpful comment; if the OP was after book recommendations I'm sure she would have asked that question. Hmm

thanks MG, will also take a look at that one, sounds great!

I highly recommend mathbingo too, good fun, varying levels of difficulty

My girls (4 and 7) like math master which is a pairs game where you match the sum with the answer. Also it's free! Am going to look for mathbingo though thanks.

Thanks for this. Hoping to get an Ipad for Xmas and good educational apps always appreciated. Xmas Smile

There's also a Montessorium Intro to Maths, which is all about number bonds + counting which DD really likes.

Try "Teach Me - Kindergarten"

I've found Tinkr Math to be quite good. It combines math problems with the game of getting the sailor to shore. I have a 6 year old daughter and a son who just turned 5 a few days ago. The level of difficulty is perfect for my 6 year old and she loves it. My son is just starting to get the hang of addition, and does need help, but loves doing the app. You can adjust the level of difficulty and there is a built-in demonstration of how to get the right answer if the wrong one is given twice. Good luck!
