My ds (6yrs old) goes to a state school and has been considered above average, however the school is not that great and academically isn't very strong. I'm considering putting her in a school with a 7+ entrance exam, but I don't want to tutor her for the exam. Please can you tell me what an above yr2 student should be able to to?

Write a short story to time using some varied language and grammar, answer a comprehension, maths including multiplication tables (x2,5 10) and division, simple word problems and simple fractions (1/2 and 1/4) such as illustarted by pieces of a pizza shaded and maybe interpret a bar graph, time and simple money problems. Bonds papers will give you an idea and you may be able to find samples online.
