He's in Year 3. I have noticed this when he reads. Teachers haven't noticed. In fact, neither has my DH. He also has a slight lisp. Should I take him to a speech therapist?

Not an expert, but I've heard that these things have usually corrected themselves by 6(ish,) so as he approaching 8, perhaps you should think about looking into it. Perhaps you could ask his teachers advice, & if he/she can't help, go to your gp.

My dd doesn't pronounce her R's, and her teacher (YR2), suggested at parents evening in October, that we see a speech therapist. Our Dr agreed, saying that if there were still problems by age 7, it was routine to refer.

We have an appointment in the middle of December. I haven't said much to dd, but she has just started to notice that she doesn't say her R's and gets quite cross about it.

Okay that's helpful thanks. I will talk to our gp.
