DD knows them all apart from Q, V and Y. We practice them every day but these we don't know - anyone, can't seem to find them on Google either, lots of descriptions of what phonics are but not the individual letters.

Thank you.

Are you talking about the Jolly Phonics handsigns?

Each scheme has their own way of teaching the sounds....

And of course your DD only needs to know the sound 'Qu', 'v' and 'y' make - she doesn't actually need to know the handsign.

At DDs school V is Van and the action is turning a steering wheel as if driving a van. I can't remember the others, sorry.

akaemmafrost · 24/11/2011 11:36

Thanks. I know she doesn't need to know them but she is very enthusiastic about them so want to make the most of it. She remembers all except those three letters and as we are waiting for a school place at the moment I don't want her to forget.

My Ds does jolly phonics. I remember Y is eating a yoghurt. I can't remember the other 2, if noone has come along later I will ask him when I pick him up.

MULLYPEEP · 24/11/2011 12:17

If you google "communication4all jolly phonics ppt" you can download a powerpoint with all the actions on.
The site can be a bit difficult at times saying service unavailable but you just have to be persistent.
