DD is studying the First World Wat at school. She is an avid consumer of Period Drama on DVD. What good films are there that cover the period of the First World War?

Some of these suggestions are rather old for a young dd. The Monocoled Mutineer had quite a few rude bits in it, as I remember!

My dd aged 8 loved Downton Abbey so much that no. 1 on her Christmas list is the Downton Abbey book. You can get it on DVD. It's not all about WWI, but does cover quite a few issues of the day which have provoked discussion in this house. And as for the costumes... every young (and old!) girl's dream...

Gosh, have just found all your very helpful suggestions! Thank you to everyone who has posted Smile

My DD is (just) 7, so, even though I am notorious for not censoring her DVD watching, I shall be a bit careful. I am thrilled to know that How We Used To Live is coming out on DVD; I adored this as a child at school (we used to watch in on television in the Headmistress' sitting room) and it will be right up DD's street. I have also added Downton Abbey series 1 and 2 to my Amazon basket!
