Curriculum achievement levels - please recommend a website for explanation!

I want to look at curriculum achievment levels for KS1 and KS2. I've looked at the ones that I get when I google it, but they're incomprehensible and I can't find anywhere that just lists the levels in the order they're to be achieved and around what time they should be achieved. Can anyone help please?

OK. The average child should be a 1a or 1b by the end of year 1 - this seems to vary from school to school. A child should then make a level of progress by the end of year 2, so if your child was a 1b for reading, writing and maths at the end of year 1 they should be a 2b at the end of year 2. They are then expected to make 2 levels of progress over the four years of KS2, hence a 2b at the end of year 2 should be a 4b - the requirement - at the end of year 6.

So - 1c, 1b, 1a, 2c, 2b, 2a, 3c, 3b, 3a, 4c, 4b, 4a, etc etc.

Thank you - that is very helpful. Why I was asking was because I am concerned DS, Y5, has stalled in progress. He was a 3 and 2 (where do they fit in?) at the end of Y3 and at end of Y4 a 3b across the board. In his latest report, last week, he's still a 3b across all subjects, so is he on course to finish Y6 as an average or to finish below average iyswim? Thanks again.

If I read correctly, he is a 3B at the beginning of year 5, so in theory should be a 3a/4c by the end of year 5 and a 4b/4a by the end of year 6-so on the upper end of average!
You shouldn't expect to see much progress between the end of year 4 and now- a sublevel would be nice but teachers tend to be cautious this end of the school year! I'm assuming the end of yr 3 levels were 3(?c) for one subject and a 2 (a?) for another so a rise to a 3b would show steady if not huge progress. You do need to make sure he keeps up the progress, it is easy to slow down a little in year 5 but there is usually a big push in year 6 ( even though there shouldn't need to be!)

Agree with snowball; If you average out the progress expected in KS2 then, yes, a 3B at the end of year 4 would make sense.
