Reading levels in reception

Just wondering, my dd has been doing really well with her reading and her teacher has just moved her onto stage 2 ORT (only one in her class). Is this really good at this stage and what stage should most be at by the end of reception?

DD is bringing home ORT 10 books (although reading chapter books at home), can read fluently, expressively and comprehends what she's reading......but it's not exactly going on her CV in years to come!

It really doesn't matter at the age of 4, 5, 6 etc unless perhaps there's a problem and they're struggling (and even then before the age of 7 it isn't really a problem as such).

I've never understood the fascination of why people need to know what other levels children are on. Perhaps because it seems easy to compare levels of reading with the ORT scheme?

It is amusing seeing the disappointment on other mums' faces when I show up at school pick up and take DD's bags home when they've invited her for tea to nose through her bookbag

we're one half term into reception, does this seriously matter? I mean really?

is it Oxford Reading Tree?

ORT red level 2 has a rough "reading age" of 41/2 to 5 years so very appropriate for reception.

it doesn't matter, but parent do like to boast!!!

My dd is in reception and the children in her class as far as I know range from level 1 to level 6, she's somewhere in the middle of that and I'm really happy with her progress.

God this is a whole thing I didn't even know about - no idea what level DS is on, just know he ain't reading much

A child in reception could be anywhere from a total non reader to chapter books in my experience

My DS is in Year 1 and only on 1+ and has been at that stage for ages!
