Unless my ds (year 2), can see a point to it, getting him to write is like getting him to stick pins in his eyes. The annoying thing is, when he actually gets going he is really good at it. I know he is like this at school too, faffing about and doing anything to delay actually getting down to it. He is in the top writing group but i worry the others will be more keen and he will be left behind.
I am at a loss as to what to do, but feel like i am forcing him to get on with homework etc. which makes me feel a bit guilty. And i know his teacher hasn't got time to stand over him at school to make him just get on with it. Any tips very welcome.

Hi there. He doesn't do much writing - homework really and the odd thank you note. After getting him to do homework last night i felt guilty for the reason you said (he has been at school all day). And i feel the same at the weekend if he does it then. He is good and does it, but looks so miserable! I just wish i could think up ways of making him a bit more enthusiastic about writing.

I would chill out. You don't want to put him off. If he's good already then maybe the level he can do at the moment is good enough for now and it's more important to have a happy DS?
