Latest ever notification of "costume" day?

BF just Txtd her DS just came into her room and informed her that tomorrow is "pharaoh" day and he must be in full costume and bring a trifle...I can only compete with a 7am notification of an "all orange" clothes day, in November. Anyone do better?

No, I can't beat that. I think two days for St George was the best I've got so far.

I had one evening from nursery for a Nursery Rhyme costume day. Nursery Rhymes not actually that easy for a boy, I found. I dug out a jumper with a tractor on it and tried to send him in as old mcdonald...he refused so I just put his normal clothes on and told him he was a dingle dangle scarecrow :o

i'll raise you 8.10 am for 'someone from the nativity' costume. AND I put together a rather fabulous Mary and she wasn't late for school (preens)

Omg laughing so hard in danger of waking baby...! we got told that as DS was a sheep one year he only "need wear white" we could only find white linen formal trousers and a knitted tanktop, he looked like he was about to go out to bat at Lords! then, got there, and all other sheep in full costume complete with full head pieces painted faces etc. the teacher had turned his sheepskin gloves inside out(!!!) in a desperate effort to make him blend in oh the SHAME

Re: trifle? Apparently there's a buffet of some description and her DS said it off top of his head weeks ago. I told her to do 24 hour tesco value number but she thinks it had to be homemade etc. Foolish woman

Just realized that "hitler" costume would be v easy to pull together last minute. Not saying I think it's a good idea mind, just saying would be easy

We got plenty of notice that ds2 had to go dressed as a Victorian pauper. Sadly we did not get the letter telling us the date had changed. So he went in a week early in rags. My parents were phoned by the school and had to rescue a very embarrassed boy! Sadly we had used facepaint to make him look like a chimney sweep so he took a lot of scrubbing to get back to school standard.

Last year, the evening before the first day back after the easter break, I was watching my son in his swimming lesson when a mum from school quipped "have you got his native american indian costume ready for tomorrow? I ordered mine one off the internet weeks ago"

I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about! Thank god tesco sell art feathers! Two hours later I'd managed to make a full headdress and a fringed tshirt

(as a parent who is a teacher it would be very embarrassing if my child was the only one not in fancy dress!!)

I found out about DS's teddy bear picnic and no uniform day as we turned up at school (he was 5), luckily he had a change of own clothes in a bag at school, and pinched DDs monkey for the day.
The sign had been carefully placed "at eye level", clearly by a giant, and I had missed it through being too short

DD got a request for costume "a savage", with the helpful further information of "clothes for a savage from the time of Noah" a week beforehand.
I carved up an old pair of moleskin trousers to make a jacket, bracelets, anklets and a headband, and a pair of DSs outgrown muddy trousers finished the look.
I didn't have the courage to bring up with the teacher the fact that a "savage from the time of Noah" was probably naked, an inappropriate costume for infants

Hysterical...a savage isn't a very PC term is it? Indigenous peoples or similar surely?

Pumpkin I thought so too, but didn't want to join the PC brigade so let that one go. People asked me where I got the costume though [flush with pride emoticon]
