Is the primary school curriculum 'overloaded'?

There is an interesting thread in 'education' - what is your view, is the primary school curriculum overloaded? If so, what would you like to see removed/made optional and what would you like to be the core curriculum to be?

IMVHO, I think some primary school children are able to cope with 10x as much as others. How we are supposed to think a single curriculum is ever going to meet the needs of all children is beyond me!
