Crying in the classroom

Quick question - Would you expect to be told if your DC (Y6 so not a littley!) was crying regularly in the classroom? By regularly I mean at least 3 times a week since the beginning of term.

I would want the class teacher to ask me in for a chat, yes.

Yes my child. I was just wondering if I was expecting to much in wanting to be told. I've wrote a letter on Wednesday ( I can't get to the school gates regularly) and still no-one has been in contact. I starting to get a bit incandescent.

If you have heard whispers then I think perhaps a phone call and short informal meeting with the teacher is in order.

Yes.

Apparently in yr4 DS was crying in class a lot and nobody told us. He hadn't been well for a while (turned out to be chronic sinus problems) which didn't help.
He came out of school one day crying that everyone else was given a choice about school play but he had been away so didn't. I spoke to the teacher who was a bit FGS but then mentioned he had cried a lot in class. I told her this really wasn't like him so we decided to go away and fixed a meeting for the next week. Thankfully she had the sense to go and see his last teacher to find out what he was normally like, discovered she had a completely different boy to how the previous teacher described him. We managed to sort it out so he was much happier. One of the problems was he was the only boy on a table of girls and they teased him a lot.

Does depend.
If it was a child who cried every time they didn't get their own way, no I wouldn't expect to be called in.
A child that age may well hide the crying from the teacher too.
If it's a new thing with no apparent reason I'd expect the teacher to want to get to the bottom of it and to be talking to the parent to try and find out why.

How do you know this has been happening?
