Am I being a bit dim ?

My yr 3 son is doing his maths homework and at first glance it looks simple but .....

If you were working out how many degrees something has changed by in temp would you count the zero

So for example -5 to 2 , at face value I would say 7 but if you count the zero it is now 8 .

eh it's still 7 if you include the zero...

yes you have to include the zero because on a different temperature scale eg Kelvin that would be a number not a zero

It's a numberline, with two 'jumps' - from -5 to 0 is 5, then from 0 to 2 it's 2. 5+2=7.

You are both right and I really was being a bit dim

I was starting at 5 rather than 4 .

I may never be able to leave the house again (or at the very least have to name change)

I used my fingers twice to check
