Last week we got letters home in the book bag from Pica Training - advertising a typing course for kids - send the slips back to school (...and presumably a salesman will come an do a hard sell on you?)
Looking on the web it seems like the correspondence course costing £150, no information about price on the website but lots about 'recommended by primary schools'.
Anyone had any experience of this company?
Why do schools agree to act as advertising agents for this company? Presumably they must be getting some incentive? There are tons of other typing courses, programs, Mavis Beacon, free websites etc...why do they promote just this one expensive company?
Had a whole hoo-hah with the head last year about advertising 'The Student Support Centre' last year. I just don't understand why head teachers would undercut their role as trusted professional quite so lightly by endorsing companies.
