Advice please - what is a crop top?

My nine year old daughter in Year 5 is asking me for a crop top. I honestly have no idea what this is - seems like a shortened undershirt?

I understand she wants it because some of the girls have bras (!!??) and she feels embarassed getting changed for P.E. and taking her shirt off with nothing underneath.

Crop top seems a bit sexy to me, though - any experience with this ladies?

A bit like a sports bra, usually worn before a bra is necessary. More grown up than a vest! Not sure about sexy? Wouldn't have thought so, just wanting to be more like her friends

A cross between a bra and a vest. here

I don't think they're sexy at all. I think they are the perfect compromise.

My Yr 5 daughter had them. I think a sense of personal privacy is no bad thing.

Fantastic - sports bra! Thank you for this. Perhaps being North American I had visions of Daisy Duke, as that's what a crop top means to me.

No, it's like a bra for before you need a bra! Take her shopping and she'll show you!
