Roald Dahl day costume - What does Matilda wear?

Forgot it's fancy dress tomorrow for dd1 - yr 2. She hates dressing up but thought she could go in pretty normal clothes as Matilda but can't for the life of me remember what she looks like & what she wears. Is she the one with messy hair? Any ideas appreciated ladies!

She wears a plain blue dress and has straight brown hair, or at least she does on the book cover! :o

My dd is going as Matilda too. She has a blue dress and a red ribbon for her hair, white socks and school shoes.Simple. Oh and a big book to carry.
