I know Summerfields in Oxford. It is a very good school with great sporting and academic facilities. Academics are strong and standards of marking are quite high. Most of their boys progress on to top public schools. Good luck

My son is at Summer Fields and very happy. It is academically strong but takes a very wide range of abilities and is not a hot house. My son is no genius and I don't think that it is hard to get a place, especially as a boarder starting right at the beginning.

They're good at recognising each boy as himself, with his own strengths and weaknesses and there is a wonderful range of extra curricular activities on offer- ds does singing, polo, shooting, drama and plays the trumpet (badly but with gusto). They all do football/rugby/cricket and some music. The boys work hard but have an enormous amount of fun- lots of messing around in the woods and kicking balls around.

The staff are very kind and concerned and the pastoral care is excellent: my son was very homesick to start with and they took huge trouble to help him settle in.

The boys are generally very kind to one another and are incredibly polite. It's about 25% London, 25% Oxfordshire/Bucks/Berks, 25% rest of UK and 25% overseas (In ds's year: Hong Kong, Japan, China, Nigeria, Mauritius, Romainia, France). There are only a few day boys.
