teachers masters courses

I have also posted on the TES forum but don't seem to be getting much back. I want to do a masters .. will need a be a distance learning one as (a) I can't afford to give up the day job and (b) my local uni doesn;t offer a part time course :(. I like the look of the OU MA in education (I like the OU plus it is cheap) and i also like the look of the early years masters at Sheffield (but is twice the price of the OU one). Has anyone done one and got any recommendations please?

It appears to be aimed at qualified teachers. Are you already a teacher?

I was a teacher and did an MA at London University's Institute of Education. Well worth it and a good stepping stone for promotion and greater understanding of teaching. They now offer a Distance Learning MA in a range of disciplines so might be worth a look.
I did my MA as a full-time course (took a year out of teaching) but others on the course tried to do it part time whilst still 'at the chalkface'. Many didn't last the course because of the demands of their day jobs. It is a lot of work so don't underestimate it - you will need iron discipline and a routine to match. I really enjoyed my course because I had no other demands on my time. Good luck - it will be worth the sacrifice!

Hi - i've just finished my MA in Education at the OU. Can thoroughly recommend it! Was obviously a struggle at times juggling full-time work and study but overall was a very positive thing to do. I found it helped me become more focussed on my specialist area at school and i learnt loads!

I'm just starting one part time at Oxford Brookes - one or two evenings per week depending on the module. I did a Literacy Difficulties course last year that counted as 3 modules so this year I just need to do 3 more modules and a dissertation.
