we were reading tonight and she stopped scratched her head and said...
'this books wrong -that list shouldn't have all those 'ands' in it, they should be commas and then just an and before the last word -I can't believe they got that wrong!'

then found myself discussing that the writer might have chosen to write like that to emphasise the size of the list of things, but she it is definitely wrong and they should be using the correct punctuation in reading books

who is this child?????
and should I be pleased that she knows the rules or disappointed that she is tied to the rules when she is writing stories because the english language can be so much fun to play with?

Be happy ;) She needs to learn the rules before she learns how to bend and break them :)

it's great - i love it when they 'get' it. the next step is for her to be correcting the teacher. that stage is trickier Wink. but all good.

Or creating the marking scheme for the teacher when they have forgotten theirs.....
