Hi there,

I just wondered what is the normal set up with TA's. I know that it depends on if there are SEN children but if there weren't how many TA's does a school normally have? If there is a different number in different schools (excluding the SEN allocation) how come???

I'm just curious. My kids school has 1 teacher and one TA per class all the way through. How would they fund this if it's not standard???

TIA

personally speaking, primary education is not a place to scrimp and save, it is just so important to get it right, it is such a shame that so many do not really value their role in a child's life, I wish good teachers had a higher profile and were valued

"Whether we pay them what they are worth is a diferent matter!"

I suspect generally not. TAs are not well paid. BUT I love my job and let.s face it, if I didn't like it I wouldn't put in the extra hours over and above either, it is a choice. I may return to teaching one day, but for now whilst my own DD is still young, I like this role. And it is good to know we can and do make a difference.

I am the newbie in my school having only been there three years, but I do feel like I have been there forever, lol!

I think good staff is always worth hanging on to regardless of their role.
