dd has a good friend but they seem to be socialising a lot more separately at school these days. dd is resilient and has other friends. however she is upset that the main interaction with her 'best' friend seems to be that bf is copying her work, leaning across, asking her questions about the work all the time when dd is trying to do her own. She was really upset about it tonight. I suggested she should try to speak to the TA if it bothers her a lot (which it seems to atm), is this a good approach?

yes, that seems reasonable.
You could have a quiet chat with the teacher as well. just so school is aware.

I am a bit hampered in that I work long hours and seldom see teachers in person. Don't like to leave notes all the time, not sure how important this really is only dd was v upset tonight. (Equally, ds was upset because he drew a Nazi salute for his WW2 topic and teacher told him to rub it out, we had a long talk about why it might be offensive, if I'd seen her in person I like to have assured her it was from Horrible History top trumps and that we are not BNP etc!).
Dd says she is OK to speak to TA but she is only 5! I am thinking I'll see how she goes tomorrow and leave a note if she hasn't been able to sort it. Is that reasonable? am I over reacting to this?
