Victorian costume

So, first day back today and already I need to provide a victorian costume for DS2 for next Monday!

Does anyone have any good ideas?

Make a top hat out of cardboard/sugar paper. Then team up with white shirt, black trousers, black suit/jacket and a bit of cloth tied around neck.

Or something more scruffy. Flat 'Grandad' type hat, some kind of scruffy dark jacket and trousers, make them look torn, dirty and generally a bit scruffy. Use a white shirt/top

go to a charity shop. most of the boys at my dc's school go as chimney sweeps for victorian day. normal school trousers, shirt with sleeves rolled up, flat cap, waistcoat, and bit of black face paint smudged on cheeks.
