Twas the night before school started... !

It was the night before school started, when all through the town, the parents were cheering - a riotous sound!! By nine, kids were all washed & tucked into bed where memories of homework filled them with dread! New pencils, new folders, new notebooks too! New teachers, new friends - their anxiety grew! The PARENTS just giggled when they learned of this fright and shouted to all "GO TO BED!!!! IT'S A SCHOOL NIGHT!!!

I like this. Can any poet msnetters do any better..?

I have another day to go.
Count down time!

T'was the night before school started, when all through the town, the teachers were groaning; a disturbing sound! By ten, teachers were washed and tucked into bed, where memories of children filled them with dread! New pencils, new folders, new registers too! New classes, new grey hairs, their anxiety grew! The parents just giggled when they learned of this fright. ? You have 13 weeks off they are all. Yours .... Goodnight?

Twas the night before term starts, and all about the house.
The parents were howling and running about.
'You, label the shirts', 'you sort out the lunches'
It'll all end in tears, if not in bad punches.
For first timers a wibble, a wobble a tear
For long timers delight, a veritable cheer.
For at long last rolled round that September time.
Of rain, of school and well deserved wine.

Thank you 2tests and teachermumof3 for both sides of the coin..! Either way school is back Yipeeeee... :-)

mine back on wednesday, this time of year makes me wish I was home educating...

Twas the night before first day at secondary school,
DD hates her school shoes - she'll look like a fool.
Her sister has filled her with tales of such dread
We'll be lucky if she sleeps a wink in her bed!
Her friends have been phoning, arranging to meet,
deciding on school food or packed lunch to eat.
The last of my babies is growing up - Well!
She'll soon be another teenager from hell!
