Hanging loops?

Hi,
I have to get dc's uniform sorted for sept. He has to have hanging loops on EVERYTHING!
What is the best way to do this?

Sew the name tapes just at the ends (multitasking :) )

I bought some 'uniform' coloured ribbon and threaded it through the garment label and tied it to make a large loop to make it easier for my little ones especially when there were multiple things to go on the one school peg.

Jenniec70 - the name tags have to be separate (annoyingly)

Another question - how long do they actually have to be? don't want huge loops hanging through trouser shorts!!
