How difficult is it to get into one of the good primary schools in St Albans? Which area should I live for good schools?

There are several good primaries - you need to live within the catchment areas - so do your research. Having said that, it's unfortunately not a guarantee that your kids will get into your chosen school. Several of the kids from my son's nursery are going to primaries on the other side of town in Sept, because that's what they were allocated.

Hi, take a look at www.hertsdirect.org/docs/pdf/o/priotrpt2011.pdf to see this years primary allocations in Herts, including St Albans. The maximum distance from the school (under rules 5 & 6) should be a good pointer. Distances are measured as the crow flies now. NRAs are non-ranked allocations - the school was not ranked as a preferance. Good luck!
