Am considering moving to Kingston/surbiton/Epsom area for good primary schools but am told that the good schools in those areas are crazily oversubscribed. Anybody knows if there are other areas that are easier to get into good schools? how about St Albans? Would hate to move to a town then find out it is impossible to get into any good schools.

Check out the borough of Barnet (Finchley, Barnet, Totteridge etc) - it's actually hard to find a bad school at primary level. Secondary is very competitive.

Kingston has put permanent bulge classes in 3 schools and Surbiton is building a new 2-form entry school. There were places for everyone this year and last year, and the schools are all good. I don't know about Epsom.

You just have to make sure to move close to the school you want to get into, especially in North Kingston or Surbiton. Nursery is a different matter, there aren't enough nursery places but that is being expanded now as well.
