Hello I was just wondering if any one out there was waiting for a reception school place for their child in High Wycombe, We will be living in Downley ?
I had applied at the end of May as we are relocating back from France.
I have contacted admissions twice but as yet no offer of a place any where.
I had listed 3 schools in preference of course understanding that there would be no guarantee.
The team have said there should be an offer by September My son will be 5 on Sept ninth. Whilst I am not panicking yet I just wondered if any one else was waiting too. he really needs to go to school he has allready completed 2 years at maternelle in France.

Hi, JJ02. I can't help you there, but just wanted to say I live in Downley. Which schools have you asked for?

Its been a challenge just being able to look on the internet at schools when I don't Know the area.

The Downley School is in high demand. Grandson was at The Disraeli school but he was only there for a month.
I home educate grandson now.

Did your DS learn to speak French while at the maternelle? We live in France now and it has taken every bit of 4 years for my DD to become fluent. Her vocab is still weak.

Hello, I hope you all got the school places you wanted!

I am moving t the area and hoping to get my son into the downley school, I don't suppose any of you know the real catchment radius for the school as from what I have heard the ones on the bucks website are not true...

Kind regards

You say you will be living in Downley. Does that mean you are still living in France? In general the Local Authority don't have to process your application until they know you are on the verge of moving. Most LAs will want confirmation that you have exchanged contracts to buy a house or a copy of a signed tenancy agreement.

I should add that the rules are different if you are a Crown Servant or UK service personnel. If that is the case the LA should have processed your application by now.
