end of year presents

DC has gone from being very low in terms of achievement (suspected dyslexia, seeing the SENCO, major concerns etc etc) to having exceeded national expectations and all the targets set and is now in the top sets for every subject and on the G&T register for 3 subjects.
I want to get something special for his teacher and teaching assistant, normally I get them a £5 book gift card. However money is very tight so I can't really afford anything extra.
Any ideas?

TBH its not the gift itself that is important but the sentiment behind it that really makes it special.

A nicely worded letter would mean all the world.

Write letters to the class teacher and TA. Also write a letter to the head and copy it to the Chair of Governors....worth much more to all concerned than the monetary value of any gift. IME, we are all quicker to say when something is going wrong than when it is going right, so positive letters to everyone are all the more precious.

we've got a plan. We're going to get a nice, but plain box and DC is going to decorate it and write them a note. Hobby craft have sturdy hexagonal ones.
We might, finances permitting, put a few little goodies in it on some nice tissue paper - chocolate bar, a nice soap something like that.
Then they can use the box to keep things in afterwards.
Does that sound good?

Wine every time, though some of the teachers these days don't look old enough to drink.

letthembe, year 1. What year is your DC in?
We've been and bought the boxes and some felt to line them with. They are each getting a little tube of hand cream, a large chocolate bar and the teacher is getting a book gift card for £5 as an extra.
DS is going to paint it as soon as I can be bothered to get off here and do it with him we've had a sit down after two hours as the pool.

Mine are Y2 and Y3. My DD has been creating a card this afternoon whilst DS had a friend here. Looking forward to a little tonight.

I always write to the Head / Governors if there's been something great.
This year's is getting a begrudged small box of Roses.

My DC's teachers are getting the aforementioned boxes because of how well they have done with DC#2, DC#1's teacher is getting a book voucher.

One of the subject teachers for DC#1 is horrible and they would not be getting anything if they were DCs class teacher, she has lied to me about what DC is like twice now and when asked for examples she has backed down and said she is confusing her with somebody else. DCs class teacher has told me to ignore whatever she says about DC because none of it is true, none of the parents have a good word to say about her!
