What to Wear to Speech Day/Prizegiving

I'm going to my daughter's future prep school's speech day and don't have a clue what to wear. It's an afternoon event, and she's not a student there yet, but I've been invited by the head so thought it would be good to attend and show support?

Anyway, no clue on what to wear! HELP!

I've been to a few open days at private schools recently and found the dress code was anything from Chanel suits, Boden overload to jeans and jackets. Go with whatever is right for you and don't stress about it.

something smart, I felt very underdressed at ours on Saturday. But in my defence I wore something that I could carry large trunks down 3 flights of stairs in the boarding house as my DH was away. So had smart top and shoes with black jeans (switched into trainers for carrying ) Most people were wearing smart summer dresses or suits

I've got some black boden capri trousers and a tunic style top with some snazzier sandals? was thinking to accessorize to make it a bit smarter? Problem is, I've just had baby number 2, so clothes are a bit hit and miss these days!

you should look fine, think I was just a tad conscious of my jeans however in the rain carting 2 boarders stuff to the car I felt like I was the only one who planned as the other mums ran back and forth in their sandals, getting their summer dresses soaking (few went see through). At the end of the day if you feel comfortable you will be happy in yourself and be able to carry off any look. I did feel better than the ones in jeans and T shirts with trainers (at least I swapped into sandals for the actual posh bit)
