Summer Reading Recommendations (Reception -> Year One)

My daughter is almost 5 years old and on the orange level. I want to focus on reading for enjoyment this summer so definitely no reading schemes like ORT, jolly phonics etc. She is able to read the books in the orange level but some of the concepts in the non-fiction are beyond her (e.g. "In 1900, Captain Scott lead a..") and as yet, she lacks stamina for long books (e.g. the longer Daisy books).

Can you recommend any FUN books that are quite short for the Summer? We are Dr Seuss fans already but have exhausted them.

charlie and lola books are about turquoise, so towards the end of the holidays?

What is orange level in numbers?

orange is book band, about ort 6

My dd loves the Rainbow Fairy books and the chapters are quite short. If there is a longer chapter we share the reading.

I find taking her to the library and letting her go through their story books she picks out some great books, some to share and some that she reads by herself. She's also taken some things from the childrens fact books and found that some she can read and some we need to share. Just be aware though, you can end up being nagged that chinchillas / rabbits really are great pets and she knows how to look after them as she's read the book so can we have one?!

My DD is also 5 and she is really enjoying the Ladybird Read it yourself books. They are stories she knows and enjoys being able to read to me. There are 4 levels and we have worked through level 1 and are now on Jack and the Beanstalk which is level 3.
