SATS levels Year 2 - When do you get to find out?

Just wondered if and when you usually find out the results. DD's friends at other schools found out weeks ago, we are still waiting. DD's teacher is quite unapproachable and DD's report is due soon so perhaps we have to wait for that?

Quite concerned also that DD is in group 2 of 3 for spelling considering groups were set last Sept on the back of one spelling test. She has only got one wrong in all that time yet has never moved up. I have been told that maths is not her strong point either yet when she was asked to try harder work recently and found it easy she was still not moved up. Perhaps it is just her teacher and she can start anew next year - current teacher seems to have a lot of time for the very bright who get pushed and a lot of time for the ones who need help but the ones in the middle just seem to get forgotten. I hope this will not be the case in Y3 and above as DD's confidence is diminishing as she knows she can do better than her 'grading' allows.

My school is sending them out on Monday, and my ds's school next Friday.

You'll be told the Teacher Assessed level, rather than the SATs result. The TA level will be based on a more detailed, long term knowledge of your DC, not just a one-off assessment.

In most cases they will be very similar, but sometimes a child will perform badly in a SAT or may just get into a level (i.e. by only 1 or 2 points) and the teacher may decide that the level below is a more accuate reflection of the child's current stage.

My DD is year 2 and we haven't had hers yet. With experience you get these with the school report at the end of the year. However, our school does not a big deal of them in Year 2 with Year 6 being more important. This year I get both with DS in Year 6. Not really too bothered what DD gets as long as she is happy and progressing but whatever my DS gets will determine which teaching group he is in next year so a bit more important although teacher assessment also carries weight.

Our reports and levels went out yesterday

We usually get ours with our school reports, which are usually given out the last Friday of term.

Dd1 got hers with the school report this week. Just waiting for ds2's yr6 stas now.

Bitsyandbetty - they might not rely on them that much. Secondary school here goes more on what teacher says and they do loads of tests when they start in September.

We are getting ours at the end of term, with the school reports.

Not got them yet - dd in Y2. Suspect they are part of end of year reports, which we haven't had yet either.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 10/07/2011 09:34

We got them with the school report on Friday.

Got them on DS2's school reprt on Friday, got teacher assessment levels AND SATS levels separately - Which is good, because apparently DS2 is slightly better at Maths than his teacher thought. He was given a 2B on teacher assessment, but got 2A in the test?!

Or maybe, he scraped a 2A in the test, but isn't consistently working at this level-so the teacher awarded him the level he was actually working at?
