Worried about school report

Ds gets his report tommorrow from school end of year one report. But for some reason I am so anxious an worried that he isn't going to get a good report.
The class that he is in is sooo competiveness with the mums and clearly you can see who the teacher favours even with the parents.
I'm not sure because I am always asking questions and probably have a worried look on my face all the time.
I am soo worried my poor ds report will be very vague an not positive.

:(

Do you want him to get a good report? Or to be doing well in school?

Loads of schools have policies which means that all school reports are always positive. Even if your child was doing really badly they wouldn't tell you.

Almost all school reports are vague.

What you need to do is talk to the teacher about any concerns you have.....

I don't want them to tell he is fantastic when really be average.
I'd like to know if she actually knows my child as well as she knows her brighter older group of children.

It's jus would be sad to think a whole year went by and all her input went on the children who she favoured.

Maybe the TA should write the report as he has worked alot with her. I did have a meeting with the teacher and asked her how much involvement does she have with ds group an she made out she has them once a week. I ask ds every single day who did he wprk with and TA name always pops up!!

That's my feelings :(

How much do you think the actual report matters in the perspective of all the learning your ds has been doing in the year? Imho the report is a tiny proportion of the teacher's input.

I've seen some badly done ones on my dcs (coryds enjoyed X activity- no he bloody didn't, he was off sick that week!), but I have taken comfort from the thought that they have been happy at school and they have been learning things throughout the year, and if the report doesn't quite get to grips with that it's annoying but doesn't invalidate the good things achieved.

You really shouldn't be in for any big shocks or surprises OP. Anything that's a real cause for concern should have been flagged up to you by now via a different forum than the school end of year report, imo. Likewise, I'm sure if you do feel it's wishy-washy and vague, you should go and speak to the teacher.
